Background: 

CD44, a well-known cancer stem cell (CSC) marker and adhesion molecule, is involved in the complex process of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). It is a glycoprotein receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and can also interact with other ligands, such as osteopontin, collagens, and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). CD44, especially its variant CD44v, is implicated in driving tumor growth, metastasis, and relapse following therapy in a wide variety of human cancers such as breast and ovarian cancers

Application:

Western Blot: The antibody reacts with recombinant CD44. The antibody detected 2 bands (30 KD and 72KD) in CD44 expressing A549 cell lysate on Western Blot.
