Background:

Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) is a pluripotent growth factor.  Like other members in the large FGF family, bFGF can binds to different isoforms of FGF receptor.  bFGF and it receptor forms a complex with heparin sulfate proteoglycans in extracellular matrix to trigger signaling transduction.  In addition to cell growth and differentiation in normal development, the cytokine is important for wound healing, tumor development and embryonic stem cell growth.

Applications: 

ELISA: The antibody is reactive to recombinant bFGF.
